The Country School honors our students' creativity, sense of wonder, and intellectual curiosity.

“Aside from the superior academics at The Country School, I was immediately impressed by the dedication to family and community. There is a unique focus on involving the children in learning from one another. Character and compassion, in combination with critical thinking, are core values of this wonderful community.  As a lifelong public school teacher, I am truly grateful that my grandchildren are thriving as a result of these formative years.”

- Susan Vitali, Grandparent ‘20, ‘22

The Early Childhood program inspires joyful learning through hands-on activities, targeted instruction, and play. Children have daily outdoor time and relish observing the outdoors through the low windows in their classrooms. Young learners enjoy weekly classes in Spanish, science, music, and library. Our Signature Programs of STEAM, Global Citizenship, Leadership, Public Speaking, and Outdoor Education are woven into the Early Childhood curriculum.

Our Primary program inspires students to fully engage in their learning. The curriculum includes rich STEAM units of study, created through teacher collaboration, that encourage students to problem solve, experiment, collaborate, and design. Primary students participate in our MacLane Poetry recitation, a key component of our Public Speaking program. Their curriculum also includes our Signature Programs of Global Citizenship, Leadership, and Outdoor Education.

The 4th and 5th Graders have daily opportunities to practice, self-advocacy, responsibility, leadership, and public speaking. They are the “big” Reading Buddies, lead the weekly Lower School meeting, help maintain the school’s gardens, and go on camping trips. Teachers collaborate to develop rich STEAM units of study, and our other Signature Programs of Global Citizenship, Leadership, and Outdoor Education are integral parts of the curriculum.

Middle Schoolers are the leaders of the school. Their academic core subjects are rigorous in content, adaptable to the needs of a variety of learners, and wide in their breadth of offerings.  When problem-solving, they engage with experts, their poetry recitation is judged, and they design and present Independent Research Projects. Our Signature Programs of Public Speaking, STEAM, Outdoor Education, Elmore Leadership, and Global Citizenship elevate the curriculum.
